Set in the chaotic first months of the 2020 lockdown, the series follows disgraced anchor Michael Richardson and his dysfunctional team as they broadcast “Zoom-style” from their closets — chasing an impossible corporate mandate to become the number-one show on television while losing a ratings war to a rising tide of teenage influencers. It captures the exact moment legacy news collided with the attention economy, and plays it for laughs.
The framing is its own punchline: in the world of the show, mega-corporation Thompson Family Ventures buried the program to dodge a lawsuit — until anonymous hackers dumped the entire series online. What audiences get is the tape that was never supposed to air.

For the cast, the production was as surreal as its subject. “During one of the shoots, I actually had COVID, but the show had to go on,” said Rick McMann, who stars as Michael Richardson. “We were all working remotely, so I just toughed it out from home. That was the job.”
